Last updated on August 21, 2025

Promo codes are a powerful way to reward your loyal audience, drive sales, or create exclusive discounts for special groups. CloudJoi makes it easy to set up promo codes with flexible rules around availability, redemption limits, ticket types, and payment methods.

This article shows you how to create and customise promo codes for your event.

➕ How to Add a New Promo Code

  1. Go to your event dashboard
  2. Navigate to Settings > Promo Codes
  3. Click + Add Promo
  4. You’ll see a page to configure the promo code.

⚙️ Promo Settings

  • Label: Internal name for your promo (not shown to buyers).
  • Code: The actual code your audience will enter at checkout. Must be at least 5 characters.
  • Type: Choose between Fixed (e.g. RM10 off) or Percentage (e.g. 20% off).
  • Value: The discount amount.
  • Availability & Expiry Dates: Control when the promo starts and ends.
  • Redemption Limit: Cap the number of times the code can be used.

📊 Advanced Settings

  • Min/Max Tickets per Order: Restrict usage by quantity.
  • Registered Users Only: Limit the promo to logged-in buyers.

🎟 Applicable To

Make your promo valid only for specific ticket types or sessions. Expand the list to select the ticket categories (Adult, Student, Child, etc.) that the promo applies to.

💳 Payment Methods

You can restrict promos to specific payment methods (e.g. FPX only, or exclude BNPL).
Leave all options unselected to allow all payment methods.

✏️ Editing & Managing Promo Codes

  • Click the 3-dot menu next to any promo to Edit or Delete it.
  • Changes apply immediately, so double-check before saving.

🧼 Best Practices

✅ Keep codes simple and easy to remember (e.g. “STUDENT20”).
✅ Use redemption limits to control campaign costs.
✅ Pair with ticket restrictions to prevent misuse.
✅ Test your promo before launching to your audience.
